Feta Cheese & Rye Toast .

My family has never really had a tradition of any sort for New Years Day. Most times it's just a day that we can all sleep in and more or less do nothing, since it's a national holiday and everybody gets off from work. New Years has usually been spent together too, and this year it was the first time in a long time that we all sort of went our separate ways: My sister was back at home in DC, my parents went to a party that doubled as a charity event for those affected by Hurricane Sandy, and my brother went to one of his friends' houses, while I was with my girlfriend and her family.

Though on New Years Day, we reconvened for a family brunch at All Seasons Diner. Apparently many other people had the same idea that that would be a wonderful thing to do, because the place was pretty crowded. Although they've opened a new branch on Rt. 9 in Freehold, the All Seasons Diner in Eatontown right by Monmouth Mall, the original branch, is the best place to go. A great atmosphere, great service, and your typical diner-esque waitresses ("What can I get for ya honey?") all contribute to a great meal. Of course, the food is delicious and the menu is practically a book, which is one of the best things about diners: All meals are served at all times of the day.

I ended up getting a feta cheese omelette with rye toast and bacon on the side. It came with potatoes and I topped it all off with some OJ... Honestly, it doesn't get much better than that.

Diners are one of the things I miss most about NJ. Cheap, fun, it's always a good time that brings some interesting flair to your life. All I can hope is that other states eventually decide to get their shit together and maybe come up with some diners of their own (You hear that entrepreneurs?? Good business opportunity here!).

  1. Sounds delish! Nothing beats brekkie at a diner. And with loved ones, even better. Did you take a picture of your meal? Food porn, gotta love it.

    1. Haha amen; whenever I'm in Toronto I'm counting on your expertise of the food world to find a good (and cheap) place. I actually didn't take any pictures, haha, I'm a strong believer that all it does is make readers hungry!! Perhaps next time though. Also doesn't help that my camera is broken -___-
