A year ago today, I started this blog. I didn't know where it would lead me, or what sorts of things would end up in it. I had no notions of Music Monday, and even tried different things like lyrics at the ends of a post all the time. I've missed days and made them up, I've fallen very much behind, but always I have come back to write the post I missed. If you had told me a year ago that this blog would have flourished as much as it has, I don't think I would've believed you. There has been no shortage of material to write about, and there is always new things to intrigue me.
I don't really think I've gained too many followers, but I'm hoping that perhaps at least the people close to me will continue to enjoy and cherish this. I know I certainly will for years to come. And this is why I am going to compile these. Each year, I'm going to bind together the year's writings into a book. It may take some work, as there is most likely no easy way to export a blog. But that way I'll have it forever, in a hard copy. It'll be in raw format; no editing, no grammar checks, no spelling checks.
Years from now perhaps I'll be able to look back and reread things that I wrote years ago. I've already gone back and read some posts and it's really interesting to see the difference between my viewpoint then and now. My writing has evolved and I've changed as a person. If you like writing, I encourage you to create a place for your thoughts. It can be blogspot, tumblr, wordpress, anything. But it's worth getting them down and out there.
And when it occurs that you're about to fall asleep at night, and all of a sudden you have a brilliant idea for something, you will find that you know exactly where to put it: In this keepsake, in this treasure chest, in this container of thoughts, and forever will your thoughts be set in stone, for an eternity and more.
That's something that would be pretty awesome to unearth 25 years from now.
