leave the past in the past .

It is way too easy to sit and think about all that has happened in your life and lose the time that is passing you by in the present. To sit there and dwell about all that has happened before. Granted, sometimes it is interesting to look back and see how things have changed you, how the people you've met have affected you, and how much bigger you are now, both physically and mentally, sort of like how much you've grown. But for some reason I can't help but think that thinking about stuff like this is a complete waste of time.

There are some people that say that they live with no regrets. Bullshit. There will always be things in your past that will haunt you, right alongside with a lot of great memories. And I'm sure everyone has at least one thing in their past that they will never truly understand. I know I do. It's too easy to let it haunt you, to let it flood your thoughts and drown everything else in your mind. There is a point, though, where I think we realize we need to take control, and we realize that it needs to happen soon or we will virtually never get a clear mind back. Maybe part of that has to do with learning to let go.

I can't say that a good thing to do is constantly forget about the past, regardless of whether it's good or bad. Mainly, I feel like the present rushes by as such a fast rate (can't believe I've lived for 2 decades already) that we need to play close attention or we very well might miss it. That being said, I'll make some space in my mind for the memories, whether good or bad, but have to limit myself when it comes to thinking or reflecting too heavily on them. I want to be present in my present. I can't afford to lose any time.
