Take a moment today to stop and think. Take a moment to just BE. Take a moment to listen to the birds, feel the wind across your back, and the sunshine on your face. Walk around barefoot and feel every crack in the sidewalk, every blade of grass, and every ounce of asphalt that you walk on. Take in the blue sky, and the rustle of the trees.
And maybe for once, lose yourself.
Lose yourself in the moments around you. Lose yourself in everything you do. Invest everything, and if you lose everything, then build it back up. Don't be afraid to go all out. Don't be afraid to give it all against all odds. Put out 110%... and you might get it all back tenfold.
It might be a good way to live. For me at least. To slow things down, to embrace the details and celebrate them, not for a trivial piece of society, but for what they are. Appreciate and re-create. And if we all get there, would life be more easily fulfilled? Or would everyone still have those voids that they are oh so aware of?
Over the next week at Clemson, that's my goal. To soak it up. To remember it, for I will not be back here until the spring of 2012. I may hate the heat, and there may be a lot of other things I dislike too. But that doesn't mean I can embrace all that there is to offer.
I'm going to take a moment to go out and "smell the roses" now...
